My approach to furniture and craftsmanship is rooted in a lifetime of hands-on experience and a deep commitment to quality and sustainability. Growing up on a farm, I worked alongside my family to construct our family house. From there, I moved on to restoring trucks and tractors.
My path eventually took me to Aspen, Colorado, where I led hotels, restaurants, and conference centers as a contractor, managing complex operations in demanding environments. But I wanted to expand my impact beyond those walls. I earned my Master's degree from the University for Peace in Costa Rica, then worked with the UN, African Development Bank, Sodexo, and PwC. That diverse experience—spanning strategy, operations, and international development—led me to open my own consulting company, where I specialized in corporate and nonprofit strategy with a focus on supporting organizations that see business as a creator of both public and private goods.
Throughout it all, I worked on my houses and built furniture. And now I am in the position where I can do both – consult with businesses and nonprofits and share my love of crafting heirloom furniture with others. I also love teaching beginners and intermediates, partnering with expert woodworkers on complex projects, and most
of all, building heirlooms and improving the homes and spaces we inhabit.
For me, furniture is more than function—it's an experience. I simply love the feel that wood, with all its characteristics, brings to a space. That's what Heirlooms and Honeydos is all about.
